So what does he suppose their time on the island was if they were dead the entire time?

Whenever I ask him how they got off the island if that’s the case he gets flustered and says “YEAH BUT NO ONE EVER STAYED DEAD DID THEY. EXPLAIN THAT.”
He’s very stubborn about his (wrong) idea.
